Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan

has said that he believes in doing one film at a time, which he considered an ideal formula. He said this while speaking at an event to launch the Idea GSM services here today.

Bachchan, who will be seen playing the role of Lord Ram in director Mani Ratnam's upcoming film Raavan, shared candid moments with mediapersons on the occasion. He has just wrapped up shooting for the film with wife Aishwarya Bachchan.

"Well Raavan is nearing completion. I wrapped the shoot. We have the post-production work going on. Next month, I am gonna start shooting for Ashutosh's next film. So these are the films I am working on right now. I like to work on one project at a time," he said.

The film Raavan has been shot in south India and in some parts of Sri Lanka. The movie was initially scheduled to hit the theatres in the first week of October.

Casting

During the early stages, Vikram expressed his long desire to work in a film with Mani Ratnam. Later on in 2008, during Vikram's completion of his long-awaited film Kanthaswamy, there were several reports claiming he was to be Ratnam's next star for being cast. Vikram was eventually signed up to portray the male lead character of Raavana while Abhishek Bachchan was to take over the same role in Raavan. Vikram will also be playing a supporting role in Raavan. Aishwarya Rai will play the same lead role as an accomplished Carnatic musician in both versions of the film, who is also currently working in a Tamil film with S. Shankar in Endhiran alongside Rajinikanth.

Initially it was expected that Kamal Haasan would play a guest role in the film, but after rejecting the offer, it was reported that R. Madhavan would portray that role, who claimed he was not approached. Vishal Krishna, Prabhu Ganesan and Prakash Raj were also reported to have approached for the role, as was Krishna Sekhar for another role, who rejected the offer. Prithviraj Sukumaran, however, was the first choice for his role of the lead antagonist. Prabhu Ganesan was also signed up to portray another role. Karthik Muthuraman, Priyamani, and Vaiyapuri were also approached to do roles in the film. Later sources claim that Manisha Koirala has been cast for a negative role. While details of the films are closely guarded and pictures from the film set are yet to be revealed there have been numerous reports and speculations on the casting of both the films. Vaiyapuri is said to be playing the role of a transgender in the movie and Karthik Muthuraman is said to be a villain.

Release Date	2010

Spurned by the Race producers, Abbas-Mustan are planning to revive their long-forgotten shelved project Mr Fraud for Tips’ rival company Astavinayak which stars Bipasha Basu.
Says Bipasha, “If Mr Fraud is revived, I’d be happy to give dates. The film was shot in London and the styling was not time bound.”

Not that Bipasha is mourning her absence in Race 2. “I heard even Abbas-Mustan are not doing Race 2. If the original directors are not doing the sequel, who am I? I haven’t been approached for Race 2. That’s fine. In Bollywood the heroines are never signed for sequels. It’s a tradition. Just check the sequels. The guys get repeated. The girls don’t. It’s a man’s world. I don’t feel like a second citizen for that. When Raaz 2 was made everyone kept asking why I wasn’t in it. But I never worried about that. No point in crying about it.”

Moving on from Race, Bipasha has just signed her second comedy. Coincidentally comedy reprises the Mr Fraud trio.

Laughs Bipasha, “That’s right Sanjay, Ajay and I are together again in All The Best. This is the one film I’ll enjoy doing. I had a ball doing No Entry. Initially I had too many inhibitions about Bollywood. No Entry made me drop those inhibitions. I’m sure Rohit Shetty’s All The Best will make me more uninhibited. …It’s a fun film and I don’t have to always do roles that reflect my personality. Sometimes it’s fun to do fun film.”

Bipasha has signed only one film this year. “I don’t want to do any more work than my pace allows me. I don’t want to compete with anybody. I’ve made a niche right from my first film. I’m Bipasha Basu. I don’t think there’s any replacement for that. I enjoy my work. But there is so much more to my vocation as an actor than just acting. I can do stage shows, be a businesswoman, work for social causes. I keep busy 24 by 7. At this stage of my life I don’t need to sit and pine for a role.”
