Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan

has said that he believes in doing one film at a time, which he considered an ideal formula. He said this while speaking at an event to launch the Idea GSM services here today.

Bachchan, who will be seen playing the role of Lord Ram in director Mani Ratnam's upcoming film Raavan, shared candid moments with mediapersons on the occasion. He has just wrapped up shooting for the film with wife Aishwarya Bachchan.

"Well Raavan is nearing completion. I wrapped the shoot. We have the post-production work going on. Next month, I am gonna start shooting for Ashutosh's next film. So these are the films I am working on right now. I like to work on one project at a time," he said.

The film Raavan has been shot in south India and in some parts of Sri Lanka. The movie was initially scheduled to hit the theatres in the first week of October.

Casting

During the early stages, Vikram expressed his long desire to work in a film with Mani Ratnam. Later on in 2008, during Vikram's completion of his long-awaited film Kanthaswamy, there were several reports claiming he was to be Ratnam's next star for being cast. Vikram was eventually signed up to portray the male lead character of Raavana while Abhishek Bachchan was to take over the same role in Raavan. Vikram will also be playing a supporting role in Raavan. Aishwarya Rai will play the same lead role as an accomplished Carnatic musician in both versions of the film, who is also currently working in a Tamil film with S. Shankar in Endhiran alongside Rajinikanth.

Initially it was expected that Kamal Haasan would play a guest role in the film, but after rejecting the offer, it was reported that R. Madhavan would portray that role, who claimed he was not approached. Vishal Krishna, Prabhu Ganesan and Prakash Raj were also reported to have approached for the role, as was Krishna Sekhar for another role, who rejected the offer. Prithviraj Sukumaran, however, was the first choice for his role of the lead antagonist. Prabhu Ganesan was also signed up to portray another role. Karthik Muthuraman, Priyamani, and Vaiyapuri were also approached to do roles in the film. Later sources claim that Manisha Koirala has been cast for a negative role. While details of the films are closely guarded and pictures from the film set are yet to be revealed there have been numerous reports and speculations on the casting of both the films. Vaiyapuri is said to be playing the role of a transgender in the movie and Karthik Muthuraman is said to be a villain.

Taalismaan

Taalismaan

Director Ram Madhwani

Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Starring Amitabh Bachchan

After Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar Raj, the Bachchans (Amitabh, Aishwarya and Abhishek) may team up together yet again in Taalismaan. Says a source, "Once Abhishek and Amitabh were finalised in Ram Madhvani's Taalismaan, the Bachchans thought it might be a good idea to add Aishwarya to the cast. They believe that she is perfect for the role of princess Chandrakanta."

The source further adds, "It is believed that the Bachchans requested Anil Ambani, (who is co-producing Taalismaan with Vinod Chopra) to cast Ash in the film but the Eklavya director isn't convinced about the casting."

In the past, Vinod has approached Aishwarya twice for a movie and she had refused. And now the producer is standing his ground. He feels that Chandrakanta should be played by a 'fresh' princess. He also feels that Ash had played a princess in Jodhaa Akbar far too recently.

Amitabh Bachchan denies that he had suggested his bahu's name to Ambani, "Not true," he states, but he confesses that the trio would be willing to come together. He asks, "If the script demands it, why not?" The trio have been offered films together. Ask the Big B if they're considering those offers. All he says is, "We have, but nothing has been finalised as yet."
